The fall migration has begun and the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife has started their flood up of the pond near Parking Lot C. A small, mixed gathering of ducks and several black-necked stilts were the first to discover the newly flooded pond. Additionally, blackbirds, egrets, herons, and ibis are taking advantage of the remainders left behind by this year’s annual rice harvest.
The Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area is open from sunrise to sunset everyday of the year except December 25 and when flooded. Yolo Basin Foundation offers public tours of the Wildlife Area on the 2nd Saturday of the month, October thru June. There is no entrance or parking fee for the YBWA.
