Join Yolo Basin Foundation and the world’s fastest mammal for an educational presentation, followed by a tour to view an incredible natural phenomenon! The program starts at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area Headquarters, where you will learn about the natural history of bats world-wide focusing on bats of Northern California. You will learn about these winged wonders and their role in the environment. Part of the program includes meeting live bats via a camera. To fully appreciate the evening flyout of the bats, we strongly encourage you to join us for the Talk before the Tour.
Next, we’ll head to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, where you’ll be able to watch a truly breathtaking flyout of Mexican free-tailed bats fly out from under the causeway for their nightly hunt. The bats emerge from under the causeway around sunset, creating a perfect backdrop for this natural phenomenon.
