Many animals look different when young. Some animals go through significant changes like metamorphosis, others grow feathers or fur. Some animals hatch from eggs, while others are born live. To help younger children understand, have the child compare pictures of themselves or their relatives as infants and at older ages.

Cut apart the following picture cards. Mix them up, then lay them out and encourage the student to try to match the young animal with it’s mama. Once the student is confident in matching the adult to the young animal, turn the cards over and use them to play the card game “Concentration”.
