Snakes of the Bypass – Can You Identify this snake?
It is one of a handful of snakes that may live in the Yolo Bypass. None of the snakes in the bypass are venomous. We can find them sunning themselves in warmer weather among the grasses. When they hear your footsteps approaching, they often slide into the water for a quick escape, swimming away. This snake feeds on small fish, amphibians, mammals, birds and their eggs, worms and slugs.
