California Duck Days is a family oriented, community-based outdoor festival with activities for people of all ages. On-site activities include wetland themed arts and crafts, live animals, nature trail games, interactive exhibits, and much more.

Bring a water bottle. Food trucks will be available. No dogs permitted.

Wetland Pond Exploration
Discover the fascinating world of aquatic invertebrates. Put on some boots, step into the pond, and see what you find in your net!
Tule Duck Decoys
Have fun crafting a simple duck decoy or toy boat from local tules with the guidance of our expert volunteers.
Owl Pellet Dissection
Owl pellets are the regurgitated remains of an owl’s meal. In them you'll find bones, feathers, fur, and teeth of their prey. Drop by to dissect a pellet and discover what owls eat!
Duck Decoy Painting
Paint a wooden cut-out of a mallard or bufflehead to take home for your bookshelf or desk. Be as realistic or imaginative as you like!
Live Ambassador Animals
Get an up-close view of some of the beautiful and powerful raptors found in the Central Valley courtesy of Native Bird Connections.
Close Encounters with Ducklings
Nothing will put a smile on your face quicker than an adorable, downy duckling. Their cuteness will quack you up!
Visits with Ambassador Bats
Learn from Norcal Bats about a variety of local species of bats, including the Mexican Free-tailed bat, which are the primary species that can be seen on our Bat Talk and Tour!
Water Quality Testing
How do we know if water in our wetlands is safe for the plants and animals that live it? By testing it, of course! Grab a water sample and get a hands-on view of just what is in our water.
Wood Duck Nest Box Building
Help California Waterfowl build wood duck boxes for their conservation programs! These boxes provide a safe nesting location for beautiful wood ducks.
Tours of the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area
Enjoy a 90 minute bus tour of the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area. Volunteers will tell you about the history of the Wildlife Area and help ID the plants and animals seen along the way.
Working Dog Demonstrations
Toffee may not be a traditional hunting dog, but she certainly has the spirit of one! Watch her splash in the pond and retrieve decoy ducks while her owner talks about the role of hunting dogs.
Fly Tying for Beginners
The Fly Fishers of Davis will teach you the art of fly tying and demonstrate the basics of fly fishing.
Duck Calling
Learn how to call ducks and geese. Special duck whistles and calls will be available for participants of all ages.
